The Bible makes it clear, you cannot work your way into heaven through good works or by religous practices. "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses is a filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." ( Isaiah 64:6 ) "You are saved by grace through faith. It is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast." ( Ephesians 2:8-9 ). "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works or righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour" ( Titus 3:4-6)

"Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." ( Matthew 22: 35-40 )
